About Wideum och Sea-Buckthorn
In 1999 "the journey" with Sea-Buckthorn and the brand name Wideum Garden started. "Mamma Sea-Buckthorn" Paula is called by some. Ten years has passed and here is Paula's own story.
"Why? Well, there was a lack of hope in society. Not enough work in some places.
Nature heals. Many have a poor immune system because of bad eating habits. Fast food. Or no food at all. No vegetables.
My family and I lived off our own vegetables and eggs for 25 years. How did it come to this? How could so much knowledge from our ancestors get lost so fast?
How come we don't make nettle soap anymore? Free, delicious and nutritious.
How come we don't grow potatoes anymore?
I felt paralyzed at times. At one time I took the help of a dietician, and we cooked in the middle of day in some course I had. It's no use just talking ABOUT things you OUGHT TO do, if we don't do them ourselves, right?
I also buy fast food at times. But the foundation is important to survive. To get energy. To get stamina.
We have been "lacto-ovo-vegetarians" for many years while the children grew up. It means we did just fine on root vegetables, protein from soy, milk, cream and real butter. Our own eggs.
We always had food on the table. And it was cheap. Vegetarian burgers and "meatballs". Very simple and delicious.
We made our own ice cream, bought milk at farms and had ecologically grown vegetables.
But additives, flavor enhancers and food coloring, just increased more and more in the stores. Now there's a little more awereness.
My 10 years in the food industry have been tough, to be in the lead.
Again, why? When Sea-Buckthorn came in to my life, no one cultivated it. I decided to get many farmers started, and to deliver these berries to people. Perhaps I can contribute to people's health, and even to have more people be able to make a living within this area?
How? My sister studied ecological technology. I read her work, and among other things, it was about this berry.
Waiting for someone to "discover" it. And I did.
After a ten year long journey, the result is what I wanted.
Many people know how nutritious the berry is.
Many have started cultivating and put products on the market.
I'm happy and proud.
Wideum Garden started in 2005.
The name of the plantation is Widén Gården. We welcome our customers to Wideum Garden to get knowledge and a genuine experience of Sea-Buckthorn from Bohuslän, and our history.
